I am considering going to grad school and CCC in the near future. Could I take the GRE on my own before CCC and submit my score to HRC, or will the GRE only be valid if actually taken during CCC?

Does not need to be taken in CCC and the Army does not care if or when you take it.

I don't know if it's still in place, but the article was from 2019. But I didn't need it for the USAR CCC

The tribe says the time frame is up to you. BTW DoD doesn't determine shelf life, the schools do. Their admission pages on the web site should have that. Had one sent to Adak to be proctored for me back in the day and walked into USC shortly after AD. They had a higher score requirement than most. Higher the score, the higher the level of confidence the schools will have on your application. Another opportunity to stand out.

I totally forgot about that GRE thing. No one is stopping you from taking the GRE. So take it when it best fits your schedule in order to perform the best you can. Is that still a thing? I've heard nothing of it in a long time.
If I recall correctly, taking it was the only requirement. How well one did on it didn't seem to have any guidance. Only that it had to be taken.
