CPT transferring from AMEDD: Logistics or Civil Affairs or something else?

Senior CPT Clinical AOC looking for a change of pace (ROTC grad). My AOC is understrength but the promotions are less than ideal for AMEDD right now. I am considering 38A or 90A which both have numerous openings in the USAR. 38A probably makes more sense given my medical skillset, but Army logistics has always interested me. My questions are:
1. Is the learning curve too steep for an AMEDD officer jumping into reserve LG?
2. Am I hurting myself promotion-wise? I am up for MAJ next year but can delay the board since I am in a doctorate program per a recent MILPER message. As I said AMEDD promotions are low, sub 10% for my branch
3. Thoughts on CA vs LG? I would like to have future mob and training/school opportunities when I finish my doctorate.
4. Any other branches you would recommend? The LG feeders and CM are the easiest to transfer to right now.

If you're jump qualified or want to be, go to USACAPOC (A) and you can jump as much as you want. They've got a lot of slots for medical personnel. It's a two star command headquarted at Bragg. Got units all over the US.

I'm in the process of reclassing from AMEDD. I'm also currently in a CA unit. I'm happy to share.

Sir, is AMEDD willing to release you? That'll be the first hurdle. If proponent allows you to move on, I'd suggest LG because it's a vast field and offers a lot of professional development and opportunity.

MSG,
Yes, MILPER messages the last 2 years have allowed AN/MSC to transfer to basic branches. I had never seen something like this prior, the process is very easy.

Both branches have multiple MAJ slots in the USAR. These branches are pretty different when it comes to mission and workload. It really depends on what you want to do. Nothing in the Army is super complicated, I'm sure your doctorate is more complicated than a branch transfer school.
Both branches will have MOB oportunities. You can do your research now and search through https://mobcop.aoc.army.pentagon.mil to see vacancies that are listed. They vary by year, but will give you an idea of what is in demand.

I was part of CA BN in Germany for a few years. I never became branch qualified. I was a team leader. It was a lot of researching about countries obligations and needs. The unit missions were centered on following up on projects that the USA paid for (i.e. if we built a school, a team would revisit the location to ensure it was being used as a school and not for something else).
As a logistics officer in the reserve - I have spent most of my time in command (my choice) or on staff. Lots of additional duties and team leader type roles. The main function of supply/logistics in the reserves is overseeing lodging in kind, meals, inventory, and OCIE.
As an officer, both branches would put you in leadership roles that may require a few hours outside of battle assembly. I'm the credit card holder so I have to log in at least twice a month to do reports outside of BA. Most units also hold some sort of command and staff or sync call to prepare for BA or discuss matrix. Overall, unless you are in command, I wouldn't expect much of your personnal time during the month to be consumed with army stuff.

That time commitment aligns with my experience as well. I was a S3 for awhile and that definitely took up more time. Was the morale in the CA unit pretty good when compared to the rest of the reserves? I presume people want to be there.
Which did you enjoy more? I still need KD command time and it seems it would be difficult for me as a senior CPT to get that in a sustainment brigade situation?
Would you recommend a new LG officer join a dedicated logistics unit or become S4 in a non-log unit?

CPT (Join to see) - Oh, if you want a KD in logistics you will get battalion commanders beating down your e-mail for Company Command slot notifications. Don't you worry.
All in all I think more important to your AOC choice as a reservist is finding a position that will align with your civilian obligations. LG will by far allow for more mobility CONUS for positions as you progress upward than CA, and every single CA unit was RFX (if that is still a thing) with an elevated OPTEMP relative to everyone else. You can still get that in LG if you want, and LG will probably allow you to pick a choose your desired level of contribution more so than other AOCs.
