So I was perusing Army Times and saw this little Gem:
http://www.armytimes.com/article/20110309/NEWS/103090328/Ex-Walter-Reed-CSM-sentenced-to-6-months
From the article:
Some of the offenses admitted by Crump include wearing six awards and decorations from March to December of 2009, including the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal with Arrowhead device, which indicates — contrary to military records — that he made a combat jump into Grenada. He admitted he wore a U.S. Navy Achievement Medal without authority since 2006 and, on three occasions, two or three unauthorized overseas service bars.
Do you think that the CSM was fined too harshly, just right, or not enough?
I will reserve my comments for now.

As a CSM and leading troops his wasn't following the lead by example that the CSM was putting out to his NCO's. If Private Snuffy gets in trouble for it why shouldn't he. Why is a CSM different than a civilian? He defiantly knows better. That's why we have records briefs. If we where to do this as JR NCO's or lower enlisted then we would be roasted and on every detail the CSM could find.

He could of lost it all with no reiterment as well. Just dont understand the thinking behind it all. I know it is conf=using sometimes but why fake it if you "dont know".

I say that he didn't need to go to prison but I'm thinking that his career should have been over. How about the Marines just tanking Sergeant Major Archie's career for a minor altercation with a protester? Hell he didn't even go to court and his career was over. This guy should have been discharged.

Very true SPC Michael Rosenthal and I think that's not such a bad idea for all of the various branches.

SSG Crump was a straight up tool who ruined many careers! He should have been demoted to PVT and given a Bad Conduct Discharge after at least 36 month's in confinement. The United States Army should have went back and null and voided the centralized promotion board's he sat and reconvened them with an objective panel from an outside CMF...he was no CSM or SGM and he retired as a junior NCO which was not punishment enough for this piece of work tic turd!

if privates and lower enlisted receive harsh punishment for cases that qualify to the crimes then why is that someone of his rank have the same for him

He got what he deserved, just right he can still retire as a staff sergeant.

Honor, respect, and integrity. Three Army Values that he disregarded. How can I, someone who has recited the Soldier's Creed too many times to count, think that his punishment was too harsh? He was a CSM, he should be the standard for every soldier and does something like this? He is belittling the service of every soldier who has earned what he stole and he damages the image of the military we all serve in.

I have a real problem with "fakers"...I even have a brother who claims he was in the "moge" during black hawk down and was Special Forces and a Ranger. He has all but dis-owned me for calling him out. He even went as far as a full blown argument about that "arrowhead-sword-and lightening bolt", (Special Forces)..was a cemical weapons specialist unit patch,...haha..I hate that he does this and I just want him to come clean on it..any advice as to what I can do about it?..

Get a copy of his DD-214... The next time he opens his mouth about what he "did"..... take the DD-214 out and say..."show me where it says that here". Of course the very next words out of his mouth will be "I can't ... it's all black ops...only the CIA can declassify it" ... but at least he'll know you have the real deal........

Jail time is too much in my personal opinion. Bust him down in rank. Who put a guy like this in charge anyway?
