Sgm crump
So I was perusing Army Times and saw this little Gem:

http://www.armytimes.com/article/20110309/NEWS/103090328/Ex-Walter-Reed-CSM-sentenced-to-6-months

From the article:

Some of the offenses admitted by Crump include wearing six awards and decorations from March to December of 2009, including the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal with Arrowhead device, which indicates — contrary to military records — that he made a combat jump into Grenada. He admitted he wore a U.S. Navy Achievement Medal without authority since 2006 and, on three occasions, two or three unauthorized overseas service bars.

Do you think that the CSM was fined too harshly, just right, or not enough?

I will reserve my comments for now.

Not Harsh enough, it's a slap in the face to those that rightfully earned those awards.

As the Senior Enlisted member, it was not just an "Oh Crap", I thought I earned/rated that. He knows if he made a combat jump into Grenada and why would he wear a Navy Achievement Medal? Too easy to verify. The integrity of the entire senior enlisted corps is brought into question by wearing unauthorized decorations. Easy enough to verify what you rate.

There are those on the outside wearing FULL MILITARY UNIFORMS and nothing is done to them under the Federal Law. I could see him being subjected to an Article 15 and fined. To me that is punishment enough, more so when civilians can imperaonate a member of the armed forces and nothing happens to them

If he used his lies to get promoted, he received extra money from the government. That is theft by deception and a felony. His rank should be reduced to E-1, and he should be forced to payback his extra benefits. Not just base pay, but bas/baq and whatever extra benefits he received with his new rank. He should definitely not be allowed to receive retirement pay, regardless.

Pretty sad in the first place, that a active duty CSM even did this! I guess he was trying to make himself look better? Because he was a E-9 thought he didn't have enough ribbons on his pocket!!!

Even though demoted to SSG, he will still retired out as a E-9. Poor example on his part as a senior NCO.....

I was a Cavalry Scout/19D all my years in, and never felt I had to prove I was something else that I wasn't!

At this level, the right amount would have been dishonorable discharge. To let the person continue in the military is cause for alarm. No one will respect him anymore, no one will believe him, and he should have known better.

The only reason I voted fined just right is because if it were a commissioned officer, he/ she would have gotten a slap on the wrist.

We will see. Title 10 LTC found at Benning to be wearing Ranger and Sapper tabs and possibly more without being authorized. I sincerely hope he receives the same as the CSM.
