Hello all,

I’m about 10 months from my ETS date (11-NOV-2021) and I started my SFL-TAP and was interested in the MSSA program offered my the career skills program. When I called the program and asked about requirements, the coordinator told me I wouldn’t be able to Participate because the term in which I selected began may 11th till august 21st. The reason being was because I wouldn’t be within 180 days of separation at the start of the program (I’d be 194 days from separation). Would I be able to get an exception to policy? or is what he said completely wrong? Goin to see a CSP representative on Monday but I just wanted some clarification.

No, there is absolutely no exception for that. TAP is administered under federal law and guidelines, this is not a local policy you can work around. In addition, you're not even eligible to do any CSP until you have completed SFLTAP. What you can do is extend long enough to get into the next one next year, and complete SFLTAP early enough to get accepted into the program before it fills up.

Appreciate it sgt. I had already finished my SFL-TAP appointments back in December. The reason why I asked was cause the program is near my last 6 months. But it’s 15 days from my last 6 months. So I don’t plan on extending if that was the case.

SGT (Join to see) no one ever does, but if it's worth it to you then you will. It's an investment in your future. If it's not worth investing some extra time with full pay and housing paid for you, then it's probably not worth your time. You can definitely find something better to spend your time and GI Bill on.
