Currently I'm an 88M E-5 and reclassifying to 88N. Does anybody have insight on what to expect during AIT as a MOS-T and after as an SGT?

SGT Bunting,
I was an 88N30 and what you can expect during AIT is to learn the ins and outs of the Transportation Management business. Once you are finished with AIT, try to get into a GATES (Global Air Transportation Execution System) class at Ft. Lee, VA so you can become a GATES operator, (more time in the A/C) while down range. As a Sergeant, you will have the responsibility to provide all cargo movement documentation called TMR's (Transportation Movement Requests) to ensure the customer gets what they need whether the cargo is shipped via Rail, Vessel or Vehicle. You will create records in GATES , assign them to a vessel, truck or train with a MSL (Military Shipping Label) that can be scanned and tracked, and you will also monitor the cargo (Containers, Vehicles, and Breakbulk items) until it reaches it's destination. There are many aspects to the 88N MOS but nonetheless is a VERY good MOS to have for the simple fact, no more convoys. This description only touches the surface of the great MOS of 88N, hope it helps.

SSG Dietrich,
Thanks for the breakdown. I'm really looking forward to reclassing because I feel like being a mike is a dead end job. Do you have any recommendations for any other Army classes prior to me reclassying?

I just reclassified to 88N this year. SSG Dietrich is correct on what you will learn in AIT also you will be in the mos-t barracks regardless married or single, you will do pt with the AIT soldiers. I hope this helped a little bit

Makes Zero sense. At E8 you no longer hold the position of a 88N or 88M, instead you become an 88Z... So it doesn't matter what route you choose.

SGT Andrew Graziose, as an 88N, you compete with the other 88 series and it's usually the Mikes and Hotels that make E-8. Kilos, Limas and Novembers are the lower density MOS's of the 88 CMF. As an 88N, it's almost impossible to get above E-7. Not saying it can't be done. Just VERY difficult. SO, does it still make zero sense?
I enjoy being an 88N. But not as much as I enjoyed being a 19D. As far as AIT, I think it's a night & day difference between the active and reserve components. I spent a week at Deven up in Mass. going through MOS Q.
You'll more than likely be on an MCT (movement control team) at the battalion level and could find yourself working at an ADCG, seaport, or rail yard. The best assignment you could get as an 88N in my opinion is with SDDC (surface deployment distribution command).

Single ? You live in Separate Barracks. Married? You live in on post housing instead. Everything else should be essentially the same. Maybe pt on your own or with other MOS-T’s.

I'm single. I also was able to find Fort Lees Regs on trainees and MOS-T and thankfully I will have a little more freedom then the other guys. I just don't know what to expect at my next unit.
