I am prior service, but trying to help out my husband who is active. He recently receive an email that he is DA selected for recruiting with an option to volunteer before 14June. That being said, he is up for RCP (Feb 2022)because of tough MOS a lack of military Ed. Do they have waivers to extend for this? Will he be denied? He wants to finish out career, but current unit is clearly not helping?

RCP is not waiver able. If he cannot meet the Service Remaining Requirement upon graduation, he shouldn't be placed on Recruiting assignment. Soldiers...particularly SGMs can only exceed RCP/MRD when serving on nominative assignment for a GO. But hey, requirements drive personnel management...you never know these day!

His Branch Manager might just be new. They don't usually place people on assignment who can't meet the SRR because of RCP. That just makes a lot of work for everyone. Unless of course, he is promotable and has completed his PME and his branch sees he is likely to promote.
If your husband still wants to accept the assignment his Career Counselor can process a request to exceed RCP. It is usually granted when a Soldier has completed PME or is enrolled in it.

Im no expert on this matter but i believe if he is DA Select, he still is required to fulfill the 3 year recruiting obligation anyway which would require him to extend to meet the requirement. If he volunteers, he has somewhat of a say in where he goes. He can also request to reclass to either 79S or 79R at the end of the tour which would stop his RCP. SFC (Join to see)

I hope this is the case, but voluntary is a better option. So confusing.
