If it's not on your orders, just let a friend or family keep it. You don't choose to be on or off post, unless you're here with dependents. Also, if stuff kicks off, it's a giant hassle, as the plan for dogs/cats is the same as if you have a kid here by yourself.

I left in 2015, as of then you can if you’re command sponsored and a exam. Best bet is to check out the Youngsan Vet page. Caution some breeds are not allowed.

Have fun at K-16, I had a blast. Chances are you will be put in building 900 with the rest of the E-6 and above.

SFC Africanus. Probably not as you'll likely be living in barracks unaccompanied. If you're authorized to contract separate quarters off post, then maybe.

She also works with the Yongsan Vet Kennel which helps with the transition process.

Working with someone will save you money. We traveled this summer and spent a bunch of money on pet sitters upon arrival because the yongsan pet sitter was always full and took us about two weeks to move in to our house. Either way be prepared to spend at least $600 minimum. Health certificate, rabies shot, some test they need to do to make sure the rabies shot was effective (this one alone is about $125 on base), airline approved kennel, civilian flight fee from your station to the AMR location, AMR flight fee and the list goes on.

CW3 (Join to see) - Absolutely. Plan on spending money coming and going. You'll also need the health certifications leaving -- both from the US vets and from Korea.
