I was looking up Fort Bliss Air Assault page the other day and it said it was closed permanently? Does anyone have any insight as to when or why the school is closed down? Just curious.

They closed the program down in either 2017 or 2018 while I was stationed there. Not sure of the reasoning behind it though.

PFC Logan Holt
I lived beside it in housing. It was pretty active then one day, shut down. Never heard the reason either.

They closed the school down in 2018 while 3ABCT was in Korea, no clue as to why they shut it down.

Closed it a couple years ago along with their Pre-Ranger and a few other courses. Big Army trying to consolidate the training was the reasoning I heard, I could be wrong though.

Was closed in 2017-2018. I was supposed to attend after my rotation to Korea. Apparently one of my battles who was an instructor said the division did not find need for it. And need more NCOs on the line. So in other words a manning issue.

Air Assault out side the 101,82, 75th are considered DA redundant =there is a DA school for it and that's it. Hell they just cut out the Pathfinder school as well.

1-507th doesn't conduct Pathfiner course any longer, satellite schools and MTTs are likely more expensive. Personally I think the Army is giving away some capabilities to the AF, but I'm happily done.
