Did you ever have an occasion, when one of your subordinates did not obey your orders? If so, what did you do about it?

It just happened tonight. My daughter decided to play with her dolls instead of cleaning her room. She had to go to bed without any ice cream.
Problem Solved.

Got it, 1SG (Join to see). When she chooses the action, she chooses the consequence. Sounds like you are an excellent father. And the punishment that you meted out; was in no way too harsh....and you knew this. Thanks for Loving her.
BRAVO!!

UPDATE: she cleaned her room as soon as she got up before school this morning. not very well, but getting ready for school is more important.

Again, 1SG (Join to see); what a great father you are. You gave her credit for cleaning up her room; the best that she could. And First Sergeant, your priorities are absolutely in order; as far as school is concerned.
My father spanked and hit. Never showing me the right way to do things. Plus, at times there was no rhyme or reason- for him to spank/hit me.
FIRST SERGEANT JERRY HEALY, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE AND YOUR SACRIFICES.

Anja is a good girl, SPC Margaret Higgins. She knows what the right thing to do is, she just chose something else this time and it had consequences. To her credit, she wanted to make it right as soon as she got up this morning instead of leaving it sit. I am very proud of her for choosing to do that on her own.
There is a time and a place for more direct punishment, when it is warranted. But I'm into things that work, not just punitive action for the sake of infraction=punishment. I apply the same method in my Soldiers, and it is just as effective in getting results from adults.

Can't say that I can ever remember one of my soldiers just not obeying my leadership?! Now if one of my Joe's ever did, there would be counseling and lots of fun for me and not so fun for them corrective training involved! Good Times! Just don't get any soldiers that want to just "not do" what they are told. Just have to show them you don't stand for that sort of performance!

Once. I was 2LT during AT in the field. Had a SPC go hide in the treeline instead of helping erect tents. I put him on "gate guard" duty at the entrance to our compound and "forgot" about him for 12 hours.
