I did, twice, during my Service. The first time was on the way to boot camp -- I got stuck in L.A. and racked out there -- they were very nice, provided a clean bunk, and even gave me a wake-up call when my flight was nearly ready. The second time, my brother died while I was at sea on WESTPAC. The Navy flew me off my ship to the local birdfarm, where I caught a ride to Clark AFB in the Philippines, where I flew to L.A. Only the Navy didn't give me a ticket, for whatever reason, from LA to my home airport, Portland, OR. The USO gave me a ticket so that I could arrive in time for his funeral.

Just to hang out in between long layovers. I was always provided with plenty of snacks and cold drinks!

The USO was my home away from CHU while in Iraq. I love the USO and what it does.

Many, many times as enlisted, officer, and retired. Almost all of them are excellent.
Favorites are Denver and Charlotte.
Is there still one in Frankfurt?

Every time we travel we visit the USO. My family enjoys the snacks and cold drinks, and we reciprocate by donating to a worthy organization. The best one that I have seen is the Bob Hope USO located at LAX. Another fine one is located at the Honolulu airport. You cannot go wrong with these folks.

I utilize it when I can during travel. Having a place to put my feet up, relax and have some free snacks sure beats the BOHICA prices charged by vendors at airports.

Once in the late 1970's I stopped by the USO in NYC just to check it out SN Greg Wright. I don't think I ever went back to teh any USO office after that time. Mty first visit seemed to be very depressing as I looked at what they had to offer and saw the sadness of the service men there.
