Did you hear about this Report: Inadequate care at GR veterans home amid shakeup?

(Check out this video) RP Members this needs to happen Nationwide - I believe the bull’s-eye has been painted on the VA - what do you think?

http://www.wzzm13.com/story/news/investigations/13-on-your-side/watchdog/2015/09/25/13-watchdog-leadership-shakeup-at-gr-veterans-home/72805336/

The WZZM 13 Watchdog team confirmed Friday that there will be a major shakeup in leadership at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.

We've confirmed the administrator of the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans Sara Dunne is having her position eliminated. We've also confirmed Eric Alderman, Director of Operations at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans has also had his position eliminated. Both will stay on for 30 days, we are told.

Inevitably, both will be replaced by a new CEO that will be brought in to manage both the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans and the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette.

Suzanne Thelen, spokeswoman for the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, told WZZM 13 it was all about modernizing the structure of care there.

Two different legislative sources told us this might be just the beginning of major changes to try to streamline the operations of a facility that's been under fire for many years.

This is not a Federal VA facility. The Grand Rapids Home for Veterans is run by Michigan through the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA), which is part of the Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs.

[Full disclosure--I work for MVAA and Suzanne Thelen, who is mentioned in the article, is my boss.]

Is this a VA facility or a Michigan facility? Usually veteran homes are state facilities... In any case, more of the same...

This veterans home is a State of Michigan facility.

It's good to see that changes are being made. However, based on the article it appears that the leadership, even though their positions are being eliminated, are not being held accountable and that's a problem!

It seems that we can become inured to anything by repetition. No travesty, no injustice, no crime can surprise us anymore, can it? What is even more interesting is the faith of those of a certain ideology that the government may be trusted, despite their repeated failures, to solve all problems if only we gave them more power, more money, and surrendered ourselves more completely to their divine providence. It boggles the mind, doesn't it?

There is a common theme. The VA just doesn't care.

SSgt Alex Robinson I don't think that is the case. There are many employees of the VA that do care. It has just gotten to big and needs to be reorganized for the number of veterans returing for 14 years of war and all of the Korean, Vietnam, and Gulf War veterans that are aging and will continue to experience healthcare issues. We need to focus on how to fix and get it up to speed on today's healthcare and systems!
