These numbers are great, to have thanks CSM, there are so many SSG's that have not met the SSD Req. and the sad part is that a lot of them will be mad when the board results come out and they are not selected. the Army is really simple but knuckleheads make it really hard

SFC Trodahl - why "push"?
Why not just put the information out and let them decide if they want to take the initiative and do the work to become eligible for promotion?
I'm of the mindset to put out the information, explain the repercussions, then let them decide.
If we as leaders "make" everyone do SSD to become eligible for promotion, then it is a measure of us as leaders, not NCOs as individuals.
And I for one do not want someone that I had to "push" to be selected for promotion.

CSM Maynard, your are correct, "push" may have been the wrong terminology to use. Strongly advise why it is important - not just now but in the future may have been better.

CSM, I too definitely agree. I think the term "encourage" would have been a more appropriate word. While we definitely want our Soldiers to improve themselves, ultimately it is up to them to do so. We can put out the information and encourage them, even help them if asked, but they have to take the initiative.

My Recommendation is to complete all the SSD's so you know how easy or how hard it is to complete and what you learned. They made these to better prepare our Soldiers for the future. I am all for my Soldiers to complete these 3 SSD's as I did as a Drill Sergeant in a month and a half.
