Did your M.O.S. offer opportunities that carry over in the civilian sector? If so, did you try to seeking those opportunities or did you go into a completely different career?

92G Food Service Specialist (enlisted), 88A Transportation Officer.
Currently working as an IT, migrating data from one database to another.
But that's the way I want it. I want two different life styles. That way I don't get burned out doing the same job my whole life.

Great point I have not experienced that with my air transportation specialty from the air force or my information management specialty. Corporations use this applicant tracking machine which weeds out resumes without proper job description keywords in the text. Military job analysis very often uses different keywords from the corporate structure. Getting past the corporate gatekeeper is key. http://www.va.gov has a military to civilian translator which could help anyone of us.

Absolutely they did. I was a Career Counselor on active duty and am now a County Veterans Service Officer. The knowledge gained as a Career Counselor and the counseling skills all directly relate to VA benefits in a large way.
I knew when I retired that I wanted to try to get a job such as this and was lucky enough to find one is just over a year.
The added plus is that I can assist veterans and their families on a daily basis!

Each MOS I've had will help me when I retire:
88M - Truck Driver
63B - Light Wheel Vehicle Mechanic
915A - Mechanic supervisor
255A - "computer geek"
I plan to work with computers / networks / help desk when I retire, but can fall back to any of the other 3 jobs as well. I'll be looking into this more in about 4 years.
