Why is it that different MOSs uphold standards differently? EXAMPLE: Food Service has more lax standards for the way a junior Soldier addresses an NCO, no parade rest, no sergeant, ect. However, in a combat arms MOS most junior Soldiers have discipline in civilians even. If there is ONE regulation and ONE NCO Guide, why are there disparaging differences?

While we shouldn't turn a blind eye to lax discipline, I will say that one size does not fit all. What is effective for an infantry or armor company can be counterproductive for a medical clinic or DFAC. People have to know and understand the standards, but also exercise a little common sense on how to apply them.

They are different because leaders don't uphold the only standard which is the Army standard.

1SG, I understand that, but why do we as NCOs turn a blind eye with the "that's a cook" "that's a supply Soldier, not in my MOS" and walk away. Right now I'm having an issue with a SSG because she felt I was picking on her Soldiers for not responding correctly when being addressed by a senior NCO. It was brought up in the conversation that I'm an MP, they're cooks why should I care about picking on them because I don't know what it's like to work side by side my Soldier. I just oversee what my Soldiers are doing. I told her that I am not picking on them, as Soldiers there are certain expectations from them, just as a SSG you are required to be upholding the same things I am hitting on. It just seemed all the way up the chain, well, SFC G, you know....they're cooks. I was still backed up, but it was like we expect a certain MOS to act a certain way and then refer to them as their job title and not as a Soldier.

That SSG need some professional development on leadership. At the end of the day standards don't see MOS's, they see Soldiers. NCO's need to uphold the standard to all Soldiers. This is why we are having so many problems now.

MSG, this is a pretty normal topic and complaint that not only spans installations across the Army, but also in the Marine Corps. I can't speak for the Air Force and the Navy. So it can't be that we just have crappy, substandard leaders in those career fields all over the place?
