So I had a question about something that has got me scratching my head. I applied for a disability rating reevaluation through a company called Trajector Medical. The thing that has me scratching my head is that not only was my rating improved from 10% to 50% (which surprised me) but my discharge status was also changed from a uncharacterized medical discharge to a honorable medical discharge. This is not sitting very well with me because I don't feel as though I deserve to be listed as a honorable discharge (kind feels like stolen Valor to me, which I am not cool with). Is this something I can attempt to request the VA to change back to the original discharge, or is this something I need to learn to live with?

The VA doesn't make changes to discharges, only the separating service can do that. I'm not sure what happened, maybe there is just a misunderstanding somewhere.

Either way, if you weren't kicked out for doing something you were not supposed to be doing, then your service was probably honorable.

My separation papers show medical uncharacterized. But va.gov and ebenefits.gov both show me how as honorable. Should I bring it up to the VA?

PFC John Behrman it really doesn't matter, and the VA can't change your discharge status.

Yea.....Trajector Medical has some interesting reads from folks on the BBB website. Based on what I read, I won't ever use them nor recommend them to anyone.

Live With It, Did You Do Something That Would Not Rate a Honorable Discharge, I Would Not Think It’s Stolen Valor, Even if You Only Served Short Time , Did You Get Hurt in Basic or AIT or After

CPT Lawrence Cable what I'm wondering is why my separation papers have me as a medical uncharacterized, but the VA and ebenefits had me now as honorable. Prior to me contacting Trajector it had my discharge as the same as my separation papers.

PFC John Behrman - VA's characterization and the Army's are two different items. It's just like that VA's disability rating and the Army's are also different. In some cases, the VA will allow benefits for Bad Conduct Discharges IF that soldier had served Honorably for one or more enlistment. You do not have a Dishonorable or Bad Conduct Discharge.

PFC John Behrman - Look troop, it is because you were med discharged which is a medical under honorable. Period. Stop trying to make it difficult. As far as the percentage upgrade, that was President Trump's doing after an investigation into Obama's V.A. which declined eligible Vets and found that his admin lowered the ratings below what had already been in place. Keep moving forward and good luck, brother. HOOYAH.
