I am set in my recruiting orders and am ready to take this job head on. Are there any difficulties in the school? How is life as a recruiter? I would like to know as much as possible to become the most successful recruiter I can be.

Well as a Drill Sergeant, I will beg you not to send me turds that will take all my time, just to get him to scrap by the minimum standard. There is basically no height and weight standard for trainees. Don't send me 200lbs of chewed bubblegum. Think can this kid be molded to become Soldier? I work with a great bunch of NCOs, but even I say his squad leader is going to ask him who his Drill Sergeant is. I will point at the minimum standard and shrug. Don't send me a guy and know that his Drill Sergeant is going to ask "who is your recruiter!". Other than that I have no experience.

The best tip for a new recruiter is to get to know your market. Get your name out there. Don't eat lunch at the office. Get in good with your school's counsellors. Travel with seasoned recruiters for the first month to see what's worked for them. Keep things professional with your prospects, applicants and future soldiers. Have fun while you're doing everything. Good luck!

SSG (Join to see) - This is why I think Reserve Drill Sergeants need to be linked with recruiting centers. There are some that have Future Soldier programs. Many do not. There's no reason for these kids to not be physically fit and know basic military movements when they arrive at Reception. I'm going to keep pushing for this type of thing, there are so many reserve drill sergeants out here. I'd do it for free!! It absolutely blew my mind while I was on the trail this summer that PVTs couldn't do a push up or sit up. That's inexcusable.
