I had the same 5-year break in service when I went back in 2014 and didn't have to go back through basic training, nor AIT. The main thing is when you go to MEPS, they'll tell you. Then, you can make your decision if that could be a deal breaker.

I was on active duty and in the reserves on the first go around. After the 5-year break, I went into the NG. My first stop was a training unit where Soldiers went to if they were waiting to ship off to basic or high school kids who had done basic and were drilling until they could do AIT in the summer. The prior service people could get their uniforms there. When I told them I still fit into a bunch of my uniforms that I still had, they released me to my gaining unit, and I was drilling with them the next weekend.

So since I have completed basic and AIT and going back in with the same mos I'll basically just go to meps then report to my unit on drill weekend
