No. Officers don't have an MOS really. The have an Area of Concentration or a Branch. The reason why they do this is due to our ability to command any type of unit in that field. As an infantry officer I can be in command from a light, mechanized, stryker, airborne, or even an armor unit. For enlisted they are limited to one MOS with limited options. An example of this would be an 11C, Mortarman. But even for senior enlisted they have something similar. You will see an 11B become an 11Z when they become a CSM.
When it comes to your AOC or Branch you will become the Army picks that. You can make a wish list. If they match up you may get it but the at the end of the day it is all about the needs of the army.

Most year groups have the option of a six year commitment where you choose your branch or first duty station. Most of my friends did get selected for their prior MOS which they selected as their first branch of choice. So the odds of you getting what you want are high, but not guaranteed if you don't take the 6 year commitment.

MAJ (Join to see) - times sure have changed. In the 70's, in ROTC, you put your "top three" down, and hoped for the best. Your degree and the strength of your personal ROTC results played a role.

COL David Turk - Still done that way today, but the Army really wanted that six year commitment, not sure if the retention rates went up as a result though. A few in my ROTC class took the first duty assignment option for Hawaii or Germany.

When you cross over you get an Officer MOS for the Career field that you are assigned to.

Yes and no..............You get a whole new Officer rated MOS for whatever career field you go into. Now, if you are referring to it being a Secondary MOS when you commission........that previous MOS is still listed in your records, but I'm not certain if it will be listed as a secondary.
On a side note: If you are going to take a selfie while in uniform......could you refrain from wearing civilian attire (the hat) with military attire (your APFU's) and broadcast your regulation violations. Not trying to totally nit-pick, but there are Officers and NCO's here on RP that are stationed at Gordon.....some are probably your Cadre.....and they might not like what they see.
