I’ve recently re-enlisted for 6 years and got a Tier 7 bonus. Also, I made the list for green to gold active duty option and currently in phase two of the process. Question is, Do I need to pay back my bonus once I sign my phase two contract? My AEA code on ERB was “I” but it changed to “L” once I re-enlisted. Should I be worried?

Nope. You get to keep your reenlistment bonus when you commission. You'll only pay it back if you get kicked out, or if you were somehow paid the bonus after being selected for G2G. Your retirement had nothing to do with your AEA Code change

SGT (Join to see) you fell into a happy little glitch where you were reenlisted before all the databases synced up. You were built as a L and so should keep your bonus. Congratulations on your bonus and your selection for G2G

SFC (Join to see) so if I just received the I code I cannot receive the bonus now correct SFC? I couldn’t reenlist prior to this bc I was 24 months out and not 1 year. TIA

SSG (Join to see) that is correct. If you were accepted to G2G ADO you will still need to reenlist, though. You just won't get a bonus

If you look in the 601-280, you'll see that a transition to warrent or officer, you are still fulfilling your military contract, so you do not have to pay back your bonus. Things change if you change from active to reserve or vise versa.

I went GTG ADO when I was a SSG back in 2007. I did not have to pay back any of my contractual bonus. I’m sure in states that in some regulation. Remember, should you fail to commission you will be returned to Active Duty to serve out your contract.
