I was in a reserve drill sergeant unit until last February, but then mobilized to Fort Bliss as an instructor. Due to the fact that I have been out of a drill sergeant slot for over a year, will I need to attend a recertification course in order to be a reserve drill sergeant again?

They're not going to send a reserve drill sergeant back to the Academy for recertification. If your a qualified drill then you'll just have to get current and catch up on your own. Now when you go on the trail for AT some units out there will have the Reserve drills certify certain things before letting you near their soldiers. I think 1-48 at FLW does this.

I haven't seen that happen, but doesn't that mean no. You have a responsibility to maintain the skill set as a Drill Sergeant.

Recruiters do. I had a SFC in my basic recruiter course that had gone back to his old MOS after his time. He even had a gold badge.

Do reserve drill sergeants still have to attend a recertification course if they haven't been in a drill sergeant slot in over a year?

There is no recertification course. When or if you get back in a drill sergeant unit you should just catch up or refresh your skills.
