So, just something I thought would be an interesting topic. Both funny and to see what people really have to say about it. But seriously, combat beards are awesome. Everyone's thoughts? Serious or not it's all welcome.

Sure. Especially if you're in an environment that it could help you blend in. And as long as it doesn't hinder anything to do with the uniform. I would be fine with it

So, I've never been deployed and therefore didn't vote.
That said, I heard a report today that a recent analysis indicates beards are absolutely full of bacteria fecal material. Like, dripping with it.
I'm guessing chicks don't dig that...
Am also newly clean shaven...will have to get the profile updated ASAP.

Lt Col Fred Marheine, PMP Sir, I didn't mean to imply any lack of research on your part, only the media's, I just happened to have seen that article today by happenstance. I would argue your new style is the summer fashion anyway, beards are hot when temperatures rise.
That said I fully advocate proper beard hygiene, the company my wife works at and loves offers this beard wash:

Capt Richard I P. , you didn't have to imply I didn't do research - I just admitted I didn't. I was going for the laugh - and hey, it's still kind of funny even if it's a complete fabrication.
A "beard wash"? Is that different than shampoo? Or soap? Do dudes get to retain their "man cards" if they buy this themselves (as opposed to a gift from a lady)?
Again, going for the laugh here...I'm sure they're great products. Plus, I already shaved.

Lt Col Fred Marheine, PMP Sir, my apologies, I tend toward the deadpan online, particularly with those who outrank me.
My wife has explained to me that shampoos and conditioners can indeed be used to wash beards (the "beard wash" is honestly probably a little bit of a branding thing although facial hair has slightly different coarseness than head hair). Less ideally soaps can be used to clean hair, but tend to dry out the scalp quickly, and will likely dry out most face and scalp hair more than shampoos and conditioners.
As one who shaves both his head and face frequently I can recommend another excellent product for after-shave lotion from the same company (for shaving cream, razor and blades I prefer Art of Shaving):

I believe I've heard that men who purchase boutique cosmetic products retain their man-cards on provisional basis only if they outweigh the metro-implications with extreme focus on lethal capability, owning the means for violent conflict and frequent discussions of judicious and intense application of violence.... preferably on a website for veterans and servicemembers. Like, on every topic they have to mention killing.

Very ballsy move to put a link on a thread about beards in combat where the URL has "cosmetic-lad" in the middle of it.
I was a nuclear launch control officer - I was prepared to kill...a lot, though admittedly at a distance...just mentioning it IAW above guidance...
