Just wondering if you have to option to choose your duty station once your SF training is completed, or if it’s needs of the army? Been considering dropping a packet in the next year or so. The answer will not affect me submitting a packet or not. any help is appreciated thank you.

You get a wish list where you order MOS', group/duty station, and language. Most people get at least 1 of their #1 picks. However dont be dumb and say you want Russian and 7th Group. They dont really mix

Russia Is Gearing Up for a Conflict With the United States in the Caribbean
With Moscow propping up Maduro, evading oil sanctions, and moving its troops around the coast, Washington needs to rethink its own strategies.

I was given I wish list for MOS and Group. I put B,C,D,E in that order. I also placed my top 3 Groups as 7th, 3rd, and 10th. I tested out on Spanish before I started the pipeline and received a fairly high score on the DLPT. I got 18B and 3rd GRP. I did not have to go to language school though. I went to 3rd GRP as a Spanish speaker. While ther was no use for my language. A squared away, hard as wood pecker lips 18B was more beneficial to them than an average 18B that spoke French. Going to 3rd GRP was the best thing that ever happened for my career.

It will be the needs of the Army, but you can manipulate the system by learning the language of an AO you'd like to work.
