I'm asking this because I've started getting more than the normal requests for booking reservations for Mother's Day from restaurants we like. Mothers Day is one of those days we've always avoided like the plague for dining out due to crowds and being rushed to clear the table fot the next party. With the impact of Covid does anyone think this may be a good year to ignore instincts and support our local businesses?

Since you're in Florida, pick one that outdoor dining and support them. Or you could go the day before or after?

Good ideas. Outdoors in May can be touch and go, could be nice or, depending on humidity, could be like eating in a swamp.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen I would stay away from days when there will be a crowd. We go to a restaurant when it first opens for lunch so that no one else has sat at the table that day and possibility contaminated the air that we will be breathing when we take our masks off.

Some of the fancier places are providing lovely take out dinners. Decorate your kitchen table, pull out the nice dishes, and enjoy a relaxing meal at home.
If restaurants haven't adapted to providing take out dinners at this point they don't deserve support.

There are Michelin starred restaurants providing great take out options. If a restaurant isn't doing it a year into this thing they are just refusing to do it.
