I must admit I love a good conspiracy post. About how we have the present administration trying to end gun ownership, take our guns and void the 2nd amendment. We do have a honest and often contentious debate on gun rights and ownership in this country but it has gotten a bit silly. Militias hoarding guns, police seizing guns, registration is the first step in ending ownership.

The IRS, FBI and NSA are working together to gather information on us so they can control us. DNA samples taken from newborns will be used to track us and used to determine our mental health or intelligence. Intelligence gathering was done by the NSA for "anti terrorism" purposes but to control the population?

The government is hiding proof of men from outer space. Ok, I believe that. I saw Independence day, that's all I need to know.

What are your favorite conspiracy theories that affect veterans and Americans. Right wing, left wing or just plain nuttery? Do they affect the political discussion and debate on these issues?

Protein scoop
I see this over and over again. Why is the scoop for my jug of protein always on the bottom. They have to do it on purpose. WHY? Why must they make me suffer? I just got a new jug last week and I had to go to a HUMMV and get the pioneer kit to find it.

When will this madness end?!?

Wow, I see this all the time and didn't think about it, we should design a tool for this, something that can remove the contents like a vacuum and put it back after we get the scoop. That will learn em.

I always keep the scoop from my last protein jug and use it until I uncover the new scoop.

Oh please, that is what they want you to do, now you have to buy the same protein every time so the scoop works. Then when you get to the bottom you have two scoops, what then? I say we cut the bottom of the jug off with an e-tool and then use the scoop that comes with it.
Wow did I just slip into 2Lt mode or what.

To be honest with you, I don't find conspiracy theories very amusing. It's not so much the theory, but the realization that there are people that actually believe them. The government blowing up the twin towers, President Obama's secret alliance with the military to turn this country into a Muslim nation, Elvis actually working as a greater at Wall-Mart, etc. Yesterday, someone tried to convince me that Muslims believe that Jews were created from "Apes and Pigs." I just find it sad that people I once respected have turned out, in their retirement years, to be partially insane.

I think my all time favorite Conspiracy Theory is the one about President Bush sending in Special Forces to blow the dikes and flood New Orleans after hurricane Katrina because he hates black people. That one was a doozy.

My all time favorite: The U.S. Governement faked landing on the moon and has kept up the charade.

The hypocrasy is just priceless!

Me: "So let me get this straight.

You believe that the U.S. government was incapable of managing to send a spacecraft to the moon, land on the moon, take off, and return in a period where two world powers were reaching out into the cosmos and racing for that goal; but you DO believe that this same U.S. government WAS able to pull off the most elaborate and convincing hoax of all time.

A hoax so successful, that it kept the USSR from bothering to actually land on the moon AND they were competent enough to maintain this facade before billions of people EXCEPT for you and a select few who can see past the ruse.

That about sum it up?"

We went to the moon? USSR who? I think it must be fake, I never heard of that before. Is it in a history book some where?

OnStar was developed by the government to keep tabs on us. I was warned by my mechanic to never get a car with onstar because the government could watch me. I told him I never did anything illegal so I didn't care if the government was watching. The look on his face was astounding. It was as if he couldn't fathom the life of a law abiding citizen free of the constant paranoia of being caught.

I think you forgot the chemtrails being sprayed from jetliners to dumb down the population. The Illuminati, FEMA camps, & GMOs ... Just in case you were wondering I have been genetically modified to read your thought waves, and the tinfoil you wear only serves to amplify the signal! Mwahahaha!

You know you are violating so many caveats in proper debates and comes off being smug.

He was in Logic a great critic,
Profoundly skill'd in Analytic;
He could distinguish, and divide
A hair 'twixt south and south-west side.
Samuel Butler, Hudibras.

Misuse of logic is rampant in all fields, even academic ones. It is often used as a crutch to justify prejudices and as a club to smite those who hold opposing views. There are people who are thoroughly Aristotelian in their thinking, and do, indeed, believe in the profundity of empty logical arguments. Others, such as politicians and evangelists use logic cynically as an instrument for persuasion of those who don't realize that "There's a mighty big difference between good, sound reasons, and reasons that sound good." (Burton Hillis).

The second sentence is most telling here. Whether you believe what the young SGT says, minimalizing what he says or who he listens to is a crafty dodge meant to make yourself look good between your colleagues...

Spc Ludlow,
The good SSgt and I were continuing a conversation about a mutual friend on another post.

SSgt L Ol,
You hit a nerve with your comment. I wasn't trying to be smug and "a crutch to justify prejudices" and "as a club to smite those who hold opposing views" really bothered me. I hate the very nature of prejudice and I respect opposing views.

The good sergeant's feelings towards our country and the tone of his posts were so offensive to me that I couldn't keep neutral and I allowed him to set me off.

It was a "perfect storm" You have my apologies.

Hey SFC Matthew Parker which part of your post is just a "conspiracy theory"? And it's not DNA taken from the newborns, its the RFID chip they put in them that is the worry!
