I must admit I love a good conspiracy post. About how we have the present administration trying to end gun ownership, take our guns and void the 2nd amendment. We do have a honest and often contentious debate on gun rights and ownership in this country but it has gotten a bit silly. Militias hoarding guns, police seizing guns, registration is the first step in ending ownership.
The IRS, FBI and NSA are working together to gather information on us so they can control us. DNA samples taken from newborns will be used to track us and used to determine our mental health or intelligence. Intelligence gathering was done by the NSA for "anti terrorism" purposes but to control the population?
The government is hiding proof of men from outer space. Ok, I believe that. I saw Independence day, that's all I need to know.
What are your favorite conspiracy theories that affect veterans and Americans. Right wing, left wing or just plain nuttery? Do they affect the political discussion and debate on these issues?

Nope, sorry, another debunked story. But anything involving Rep. Gohmert is always funny. If you look hard enough you can see someone's hand operating his mouth from behind.

Since we're talking... how did you come to your position that it's "Debunked?"... Thank-you..

DHS Secretary was like the monkey trying to take the apple out of the jar with her hand still grasping it inside... LOL

I'm amused sometimes, but I'm always saddened by veterans (and service members!) who forward theories of an impending declaration of martial law, etc. It shows an atrociously low view of the people you served with.

Hell it's just fun listing to them get all worked up about what ever conspiracy, drink a beer and just give them that "Your nuttier than squirrel turds!" Look. Then act like your talking it to you sleeve or wrist watch. That's when the fun really begins.

Most conspiracy THEORIES' glaring hole is that they assume that the people involved are not only evil, but also highly competent very disciplined. All three are rare to find in combination.
Conspiracies (distinct form theories) are real, verifiable occurrences in history (e.g. The sons of Liberty, the plot to assassinate Lincoln, the US raid that killed bin Laden). Conspiring to secretly execute a significant plan requires 1. Dedicated, capable operatives who believe in the cause 2. Money 3. Discipline (possible through compartmentalization, idealism, fear or some combo) These three elements are essential in any successful conspiracy, and less of one can be compensated for to some degree by the other two. However, the shelf life on any conspiracy is limited. Discipline ALWAYS fails eventually. Therefore, the leader of a conspiracy must execute the action, and shape events such that the revelation of the conspiracy will no longer jeopardize the aims of the operation. Conspiracy theories that are in the modern era (of such strong media and dissemination) and older than a decade are almost certainly false.

Sir you mention the need for dedicated and capable people with discipline, . That would rule out politicians right?

SFC Matthew Parker Politicians have been involved in some conspiracies, but they are more likely to guide and direct them. Often politicians are the ones to reveal the conspiracy (knowledge, revelation and theater area big part of politics), at least one of my historical examples was revealed by a politician in a big way before anyone else...

President Obama owns a used car lot in Florida, he plans on buying all the classic cars in Cuba and selling them here. I think the first lady has a small smoke shop selling Cuban cigars, now we know how she gets them.
Ok I just made that up, but I wanted to get into the crazy business before anyone else beat me too it.
