Do you feel that the Military Police needs to step up their game plan since a new Fort Hood incident?

There have been two major incidents at Fort Hood involving active shooter, and there have been past accounts of active shooter incidents at other Army installations. For Military Police, do we feel that the Army needs to step up the game to enhance more training and even conduct active shooter drills to deal with such incidents. Though the Army is suppose to certify MP's with FLETA (Federal Law Enforcement Accreditation), and extend the training program at USAMPS. But the process is taking longer than it should to implement. From what I gathered, it took 15 minutes for MP's and DoA Police to respond and handle the incident. I feel that is 10-12 minutes too long. Please feel free to share your input

Its not the MPs who need more training; the Army and the U.S. Government need to take better care of their SMs better whether that means providing better medical care or doing something with the ones who are unstable and drop the PC bull[expletive].

SSG Martin,
I worked on Bliss for a week doing LE before going to Afghanistan in December 2011, we were their working right seat with you guys.... Did the AS course your SRT team conducts which was pretty good, but as I saw, a one day course to put 45 LE MP's into isn't enough, though the SRT guys will train more.
I also feel that command, Army, and USG should take care of their defenders, because as of right now, the victims from 2009 have not been, bringing less confidence in that system. SM are being denied the medical care and post care from their wounds and either were medical out or retired with nothing promise to being taken care of.
I feel that post command should be mandatory involved in AS training to understand the factors and response, and also show the RUN. HIDE. FIGHT. video for the admin offices and civilians and all other non-essential personnel.

Yes we need to conduct better active shooter training. But we need to start taking back control of the bases first. To many of our control measures have been given to private companies.

while active shooter awareness n preventive measures r needed to be enforced throughout the Army, prevention in the little things is key. our recruiters need to reexaming n value American lives more than just getting ppl in; thus trying to meet their target and undermining the stabibility of an individual joining n likewise, the medical examiners at MEPSs. Active shooting is just one of the many problems we r facing in the profession. I have a soldier who courses his recruiter for assigning him into an MOS he doesn't like. Without bring able to perform the most basic tasks of his MOS, I wonder how he made it through AIT. Leaders need to check themselves n stop waiting resources.

Some installations won't spend on the training, for sim rounds, the sim weapons, and the time to send MP's to training. Like SSG Martin put out, only when they are in their rotation for LE duties is when they do it, but some places I have seen some half-@$$ training going on, and defeats the purpose. Myself, as NG, we have alot of LE officers in our units, so we use the knowledge from those who have taken the course, in which I have had to give it, in my CS unit, because I was the only one who knew it. So it is always going to depend on command on how that training is conducted.
