Do you get leave after AIT before or after reporting to first duty station amid Covid?

Depends on what your report date is on your orders. Normally, unless you're doing hometown recruiting duties, one normally reports to the assignment upon completion of AIT.

I suspect the administrative problems caused by mischief while in between AIT and First Assignment would be out of control if leave was awarded right after AIT. Even if just new soldier confusion reporting late to the unit because they showed up to the wrong location on post.
It's probably best to be hand held directly to the first assignment before they start to enter normalcy.

I've heard of it, but only in a few select circumstances. Most guys I know have reported immediately after AIT. Some have been put on light shifts for a week or two until they acclimate to the unit, but yeah pretty much hit the ground running.

Soldiers at Fort Riley have been reporting after AIT. Once they get to their unit, if they have dependents, they get tdy for house hunting. The downside is they haven't been able to go back home and get their belongings or vehicle. I'm not sure how it is for soldiers that don't have dependents.

Assuming its you initial entry, you only earn 2.5 days a month of leave. Depends how long your training is, that is how far you can only take. Unless you have HRAP

With covid you’ll get direct shipped from ait to your unit, you won’t get leave before reporting.
