Even though AZ is a helmet-optional state I enjoy having the added protection against obese bugs and kicked-up road debris which might have otherwise left a permanent impression on my noggin. For those who wear helmets: which have been your favorite helmet styles and why?

Florida has the tastiest bugs. Wouldn't it be miserable in the summer being totally enclosed? I'm in south Florida, has to be ventalated really well.

Yes, I experienced So. FL from '89 to '97 and that's when I elected to use the half helmet with goggles and handkerchief face mask. A full-sized windshield was mandatory and my chaps took a bug-beating.

In the warmer months I prefer a quarter helmet and right now I'm wearing a full-faced modular helmet. It's warmer and I don't need to wear sunglasses thanks to the tinted eye screen, which I can retract when it's too dark for shades, and a standard clear face shield. The only con I have is it's heavy and if I'm doing some serious riding my neck gets sore. I rode from Tucson to Scottsdale to Coolidge and back to Tucson and I had to ice my neck when I got home.

The only con to my quarter helmet is again if I'm doing some serious riding and wearing sunglasses, my eyes get sore. I guess the same would be true if I went lidless since I'd still be wearing my shades.

PO1 John Miller, I wear a half helmet with a zipped-in leather collar (cold rides) but the wind noise is tiring (I already 'enjoy' tinnitus). The full-faced combo is heavy and as you experienced tiring to wear on long rides. I'd like to try the Vozz.

I've taken to wearing foamy ear plugs while wearing my 1/4 helmet as I too "enjoy" tinnitus.

I wear a Shoei GT-Air, mostly because it's the only thing I could find that fit without placing pressure on the top of my forehead. That said, I only considered helmets from Shoei, Arai, and AGV. The other option was the RF-1200 but I don't need anything that specialized. I wanted a Snell rated lid but sine the GT-Air has a drop-down visor it isn't Snell certified, but I can live with that for now. Only gripe is that it broke in a lot more than I thought it would and I need to try thicker pads to get the wind noise back to where they were when new.

I use a Cee Bailey Euro-cut windscreen and it has helped tremendously on cutting wind noise, but because I often cruise at 75+ I still use foamies. What bike do you run?

I have a Triumph Street Triple R. It's got the fly screen which does help but at higher speeds on the highway I still have leakage. I should have night the L instead of the XL.
