Due to the COVID craziness and lack of daycare, I might have to opt to take a failure of family care plan chapter (If that’s what’s it called). I’m about to get married to another active duty army as well and we are in Hawaii with no family around. I received a Bonus about two years ago... would I have to pay this back?

Yes you will. See the recent post about the person who asked about paying back a bonus for pregnancy chapter. It has all the pertinent information

Just wondering if the Army family care plan is like the Air Force. Cause I've been reading and hearing of these issues lately.

Do you not have someone local...close friend, unit member...that can watch your kids while your at work? Can't rotate shifts...you watch someones, they watch yours. You cant be the only soldier in this situation. I know...Covid...but if you were in one of my past units we'd have this sorted out in short order. I did the single parent thing stateside and overseas for years. I know the struggle (and these times are a bit different) but my unit and friends always stepped up to help, and I for them when the need arose.

Good luck.

This is what me and my wife did...both our units were Johnny on the spot helping out and we did the same for them when issues came up. I was in the Infantry and deployed more than usual so it can be done.

SSG Terry, I would recommend talking to legal to review your options. The type of child care required due to COVID doesn’t fall under the family care plan. Good luck to you and I hope your unit give you the support you need so you can continue to serve....
