ALL New Connections - Back by Popular Demand! I'm still receiving some great photos from all you RP Members. THANKS!

Keep them coming!

All you photogenic military personnel out there in RP Land let’s have a little photo session just to lighten it up today! Share the first photograph or the earliest photograph of yourself when you entered the military and tell us the date of the photo.

I'll start with Private Burroughs in 1975 at Fort Leonard Wood, MO & end with Colonel Mikel in 2005!

I have both of them from serving my country and then serving the citizens. First picture of me near the end of boot camp as platoon lead and the first of me being sworn in.

The first is my boot picture from June 1967. I just turned 18. The second picture is from Vietnam in 1969. I was 20. The third is my picture from Iraq in 2006. I was 57 in the picture and turned 58 while I was over there. The fourth is my attitude . . .

PS =- The name tag in the 3rd picture is my on-line gaming name. Any of you play the Delta Force series of games?

Basic Training Fort Gordon, Georgia in 1977. I'm the one looking up making the floor shine using Johnson's floor wax.

I was there during the blizzard of '78 (Jan-Feb) - snowed almost every day - many days too cold for outside activities, so we'd do PT in our bays while the DI would shout instructions from down the hall. Never bivouacked - too cold, didn't do the obstacle course - the ropes and towers were all covered in ice. One full floor at the hospital was called the "respiratory ailments wing" - for all of us that caught pneumonia - I was in the hospital 3 times with pneumonia and chose to not go to sick call for the 4th time because I was afraid I'd be recycled for missing too many days. At one point I whined about my timing and said I should have gone through in the summer. Somebody quickly pointed out the issues with humidity and mosquitoes, so maybe my timing was not too bad after all.
