ALL New Connections - Back by Popular Demand! I'm still receiving some great photos from all you RP Members. THANKS!
Keep them coming!
All you photogenic military personnel out there in RP Land let’s have a little photo session just to lighten it up today! Share the first photograph or the earliest photograph of yourself when you entered the military and tell us the date of the photo.
I'll start with Private Burroughs in 1975 at Fort Leonard Wood, MO & end with Colonel Mikel in 2005!

MCRD San Diego 1977.
There are just a few of us who switched. I switched to the Air Force thinking it would be a bit -- easier, perhaps -- and it was just different. Neither one was better or worse than the other, they were just different.
It didn't help that the Air Force gave me orders straight to Moody AFB and told me to "go to work". No orientation, nothing., Learning those odd Air Force stripes during OJT was tough.
And the entire attitude was different. First time I got in trouble in the Air Force was for working too long. It sure wasn't the last time I got in trouble, that's for sure.

*giggles at your comment* Yes, my dad told me going in the air force was smarter because he said it was the easiest branch (I originally wanted to go into the navy like my dad). I just liked the morale support overall, compared to what I saw and heard from my friends that enlisted in the other branches.

I have yet to meet anyone who says they like their own basic training photo at first glance. Give it 30 years and you'll think "was I ever really that steely-eyed, firm-jawed soldier? Hell, yes I was! Huah!"
