I had hoped that they would but I did not push them in any way. My son joined the Marine Corps out of high school and my daughter decided she wanted to go into the Air Force when she was thirty!!! I am one proud Mama!! Our whole family is military oriented.

I do not expect my children to enlist or pursue a commission in the Armed Forces. I want them to choose their own path for their own reasons, not to give me a warm fuzzy. I am content with them living successfully in whatever they choose.
Although I would be honored to swear them in, it is not about me, it's about them. My oldest has elected not to serve as she starts college in the fall. My youngest is still undecided.
I would want them to choose the branch that best suits them if they did elect to serve. Also they have nothing to prove with me, Enlisted or Commissioned.

Sir, I agree.
Although our children are still VERY young (8,2, & 1) We feel as though joining the Armed Forces for at least 1 contract would give them a different discipline that we give them as parents.

LTC Jason Mackay I had the great honor of pinning my original jump wings on one of my former foster children. They admonished us FOGs not to give them blood wings -- ha-ha, like that would stop me. He was more proud of getting blood wings than he was of the actual wings themselves. 22 years later his still brags about that to his children. Tradition!
