Kenny-It would depend much on why you're adverse to "selling products". I've sold "services", and I've sold "products"...the former tends to offer some attractive yields, but the latter is more "steady"...at least in my opinion. Salesmanship is salesmanship...you want to build a reputation for knowledge, consistency, integrity and responsiveness. The major concern I've always had with selling "soft" offerings is the amount of control over the above factors. With a "product", one has the ability to learn the "nuts and bolts"...the "hard" facts, features and issues. I will admit that the other may allow a sales professional to be more "mobile" in terms of their career, but I've found my path to be rewarding and profitable none the less.

Thank you Sir for the input. I am looking to build a business and am considering the multiples received on tech/software companies (recurring revenue models), vs products or 1 to 1 service offerings. All options have great potential to make money, but my experience lies in building technology and service related companies so was initially thinking of going that route. Thanks again for your input and definitely will consider the benefits of both options.

Sir, Multi-level marketing companies, are pyramid scams. They tell you that if you can get 10 people under you, you can collect a piece of their revenues. This gives incentives to hire subordinates. Let's say that this happens 8 times. 10^8= 100,000,000 people. If that happens just 2 more times, more than the entire population of the world would be working for you. Do you see how the business model is a scam?

Thanks SGT Clifford. I do agree, many of these companies are scams, however some are run by the appropriate legal and operating structures (meaning if the revenue focus is more on sales of the product vs the hiring of a network they are in compliance). For the ones that are operating correctly it provides as a great sales channel, as you highlighted, the ability to scale the business through networks, but also offers many benefits to those starting their own business, especially in the military community. Fortunately they are starting to regulate this more and the business model stigma is starting to turn around.
