Do you support a federal ID card that identifies our veterans?

Should all veterans be given military IDs for life when they separate (just like retirees)? I think that by only giving retirees IDs, many veterans are left out of the military loop once they separate. They don't have anything that identifies them to the rest of the world as a veteran aside from the DD214. Having an ID would help them use benefits such as USO.

While not a Federal ID, the VA does provide a veterans ID card for those who have access to VA health benefits. It's just an option in lieu of other ID cards, but not everyone is eligible.

Thanks for that! Have not yet received mine yet so will call on Monday: Important!! Veterans who are already enrolled should ensure the address we have on file is correct so you can receive your VHIC in a timely manner. To update or to confirm your address with us, please call 1-877-222-VETS (8387). If the post office cannot deliver your VHIC, the card will be returned to the VA.

MAG Yinon Weiss I think almost all vets with anything other than dishonorable discharge are issued this veteran card from the eligibility office upon request. Newly seperated vets can easily enroll in Florida. You don't have to be retired, service connected, or even use the VA.

MAJ Yinon Weiss. Sorry for the typo of your name. There is no disrespect intended. This was operator error on my part.

Don't like it...not at All...its just a way to compartmentalize us...get CURRENT status, address, personal information...We all know our family and friends know who we are...and what we've done...There's No need to give the machine ANYMORE than they already have on us...
NOTE: there was - once - upon a time - a time where I would have welcomed these "SPECIAL" licenses...
Question: Other than marking us as a target because of our sharpshooter or expert shot badges and special training background...what good will these licenses do for us??? HECK we don't have the licenses now and look how the VA is trying to kill us off.

Yes there should be a federal veteran's identification card. I have a state issued veterans card and it not only identifies me as a veteran but it provides discounts at many businesses in the state.
