Considering all the illegal immigrants in this country, do you think they should be able to use welfare or public assistance considering they aren't citizens and that many working Americans are denied welfare or public assistance.

These programs are administered by the individual state. You are suggesting that former President Obama was able to tell Texas what to do and they went along with it? I find that a little hard to believe. I stand by what I said. http://money.cnn.com/2014/11/20/news/economy/immigration-myths/index.html

SGT Paul Walliker - Yes! The Federal government does tell states what to do quite often.

And state AGs routinely sue the federal government when they don't like something (like the ACA or DACA to name two examples). If this were an issue, states would howl, be suing the feds, and it would be all over FOX News. All of that aside, I think that the idea that someone subject to deportation is going to walk into a government office, give them their name and address, and commit a federal crime for a lousy $155/month (average SNAP benefit) is a bit of a logical stretch. Besides, all programs like this bounce your SSN off of the SSA database to make sure you are who you say you are and that you are not collecting benefits in multiple locations etc. (which is why they can't vote either).

What part of ILLEGAL don't you understand? I live in California and the PROFESSIONAL POLITICIAN MORONS running this state want to make it a Sanctuary. They don't care because it is the PUBLIC that is paying for the benefits the illegals are enjoying because we are being taxed to death. AND they wonder why ALL the major companies that HAD their businesses based here are now leaving.

Calling an "illegal alien" an "undocumented immigrant" is like calling a crack dealer an "unlicensed pharamicists". That's my feelings. And no. No benefits to people here illegally. Period. If someone needs food or water or shelter, that's different.

No.
My guess is that if it were not for the benefits paid by local, state, and federal governments, the numbers would be far smaller than they are.
The thing is, if we incentivize bad behavior, bad behavior will multiply.
Remember back in 1995 (I think) when "Welfare as we know it is over" and the requirement was that if you were able-bodied that you had to get a job within five years? The welfare rolls dropped dramatically almost immediately.
But then as the folks who wouldn't or couldn't get a job started seeing their benefits cut off, the hew and cry was deafening, and waivers started to be issued... to the point where that five year limit is now meaningless.

Enforce that law and watch the magic happen.

We should also remember that Reagan resolved the illegal alien issue in 1986, but didn't stop to think that the Democrats would stab him in the back and not carry out their commitments. You are on the mark with all your comments.

They are in this country illegally. They should not receive benefits.
