Anything is possible with our government. We have had liars, crooks, deception artists, farmers, salesmen, enemies of the crown which was the recognized legitimate government at one time. Heck, look at the wannabe fear mongering dictator. Is it possible, yes, did he? I would have... but we will never know as long as our current administration constantly insults the intelligence community.

I'll take the insults over what we had for eight years. Total abuse of their power against our citizens. Given the leaks, we need more firings rather than insults. Former CIA Director John Brennan was advising the IC to basically commit sedition. The boots on the ground ICers may be honorable, not the political appointees.

Most certainly "surveillance." "Wire tapping" refers to a specific type of surveillance activity, and likely wasn't how Trump was surveilled... But he was almost certainly under illegal scrutiny.

That's the word game, in some instances. Actual wiretapping is in the past. Eavesdropping on the other hand goes on everyday. Back about 20 years ago CALEA had our company that manufactured central office switching systems to developer a means of opening the telephone handset into an eavesdropping device. No telling what technology is today.
