My remarks are for those who are being separated for DISCIPLINE issues.<div><br></div><div>I had a Soldier (if he could ever have been called a Soldier) get chaptered. &nbsp; In the year he was mine he was convicted by court martial of: 1) theft of personal property 2) theft of government property 3) disrespect to a NCO (gave me the finger during formation, at least he was ballsey) and 4) solicitation of narcotics. &nbsp; Before he PCSed to my unit he already had three article 15s.<div><br></div><div>Upon separation he was paid 60 days unused leave (was allowed to use the other 15 as leave), forgiveness of $2,000+ AER loan (cited family hardship as his reason), shipped a vehicle and household goods from Germany at government expense and given three government paid plane tickets back to the US. &nbsp; He did not receive any transition benefits.</div><div><br></div><div>In my opinion if you EARN anything less than an HONORABLE you deserve NOTHING. &nbsp; You deserve to feel the full weight of your actions.</div></div>

I come rely agree with you! If you violate the army values because of something you did causing you to be chartered than you don't deserve anything but a ride to the front gate. If anything I think the ones who get out and serve their time honorably should get separation pay as a last thank you from the military. I think that would help people leave on much better terms and would create an incentive to do the right thing.

I am surprised the Army kept him with 3 Article 15's. In the AF he would have been gone with the second one. I agree with you that if you get anything less than Honorable, you get nothing. In other words the Monopoly saying if you go to jail, "Do not pass go, do not collect $200."

TSgt Hurley, this Soldier earned his Article 15s at the height of OIF/OEF.  The Army was, in my opinion, relaxing standards. i.e. allowing misdemeanors, neck and hand tattoos, etc.  The Army needed bodies for the war effort.  This Soldier was chaptered in early 2012 when the wars were winding down and the Army was downsizing.  Here is the actual bullet I used in his NCOER when he was busted down before his exit from the Army: "There is no real world mission that warrants the retention of this Soldier."

So because he got chaptered you feel he shouldn’t have had his stuff shipped back to the states? That’s nonsense. This post is old but it’s NCOs like you that make everyone’s lives hell. I was deemed medically nonretainable for my hip breaking, does that mean the army shouldn’t have paid for my flight home and my stuff back? The regulation clearly states they got you to germany they HAVE to get you back home. My friend is being chaptered for disrespect has had only two minor cases but it doesn’t matter how small or big rules are rules should they not pay for her stuff? The leave is earned. No matter how you look at it. As long as he was not awol he earned his leave, if you didn’t think he earned the leave should have did paperwork to idk prevent him for getting those leave days. But seeing how that wasn’t done he had to of earned them. his plane tickets and shipment of goods are mandated a requirement. But the aer loan had to of been for good reason and for you to question it is really shitty. If you were my nco you would have got flipped off too by me. It’s a shame that they will chapter the joes for disrespecting the ncos who are JUST AS IF NOT MORE disrespectful to the joe first. We’re human first. Y’all get up in the rank and forget how to treat people like a human.

I agree to give them separation pay !!! But soldiers being chapters for disciplinary actions, Hell no. Then drive then 25 miles away from the military base. They are like roaches and try to come back and do damage to the base.

Escorted off post with their final paycheck due and given a copy of the letter barring them from post, I believe all chapters with the exception of hardship or family care plan, all others warrant this type of restrictions, because they are usually general or OTH.

So an injured Soldier being medically discharged under Chapter 5-17 deserves that treatment?

SSG B,

You obviously didn't read my full post or commented agreements with others, I have supported all that are disciplinary related, medical doesn't fall into that category. If you noticed I cover FCP which is a medical chapter and would have all other med ch's fall in line under same umbrella.

Ask for clarification and ensure you have fully understood something before you down vote next time SSG, think before you leap.
