Oath keepers is a group of Service members, Veterans, police and firefighters who have reaffirmed that they will uphold their oaths and refuse to obey unconstitutional/unlawful orders. You can read their bylaws at their website. The Southern Poverty Law Center has labeled them as a hate group(right-wing, patriotic extremists is the reason given on their website).A small sample survey of LEO's says they are a threat to local, state and federal law enforcement. Whether you agree with the groups opinions or not do you think they be labeled as a hate group when their Bylaws clearly state violence is not accepted?

I am ALL ABOUT the Oath Keeper movement. It isn't radical. It is simply a pledge to do right by the American people, and our constitution.
What is radical about that?
We should ALL be signing up for the Oath Keepers. Every. Last. One. Of. Us.

Well said, I am a proud member myself. Just wanted to see other people's views on it.

Glad you asked. I did too, before realizing someone asked as well.
It's a great movement. I'll be signing up in days.

I don't know much about the Oath Keepers, but I know plenty about the Southern Poverty Law Center, and I'm not very impressed with them. They're not quite at the level of the UN (ie, if the UN is against it, I'm pretty sure I'm for it), but their stock-in-trade is crying wolf while keeping JUST enough legitimate stuff on their books to be able to intimidate their opposition in a buy-one-get-one-free deal on moral outrage.

This is another example of why the FBI stopped its association with the SPLC.What is truly interesting is how they came to the conclusion that their oath to refuse to obey or enforce any unconstitutional or unlawfull orders as being extreme and a threat to local, state and federal law enforcement.I would think that as service members, veterans and law enforcement officers, refusing to follow any directive that violates the very principles of the nation is in the keeping of our sworn duty. The SPLC is a left leaning organization and their ideological view I believe is the factor here.

The only reason the SPLC takes issue with Oath Keepers is because of who the President is. If Romney had won, the SPLC would be luvvin' up on the Oath Keepers (probably much to the Oath Keepers' disgust).
