What do you mean by "expanded spy powers"? Are there any US laws which currently limit US spying outside of its borders? The only laws I know of are by other countries, which obviously we are not going to change, nor should we expect to.

LTC Yinon Weiss if the terrorists we are fighting have "hidden tech support" we need to ferret them out and destroy their network. IF the only way to do so is extensive external espionage by our government, we must do what is necessary to disrupt/destroy their ability to communicate!

SSgt Alex Robinson - We already try to do that. I'm just confused by your question... you seem to imply that the US has some laws limiting our ability to spy overseas. I don't think that is an issue. If there is a law which is holding back our ability from spying overseas, I would love to learn about it.

LTC Yinon Weiss - Read the link. The government agencies tasked with surveillance have been unable to crack the "ISIS help desk"

SSgt Alex Robinson - Yes, I read it, but it's not because of a limited legislative power. It's because the laws of mathematics do not allow for certain kinds of encryption to be broken (yet). Again, I'm just responding to the original question of whether they need "expanded powers" -- they are not currently being limited by ourselves as far as I know.
