Travel computers to connect to NIPR through the internet use Cisco AnyConnect here on Ft. Bragg.

Do I get all techy, nerdy and perhaps douchy by connecting a VPN to my resources at home? Nope, I push the doucheness even further by using a VPN to cloud services instead.

Virtual ASA in an Amazon services cloud.

Yep... L2TP... Got to managage that Kodi (XBMC) usenet, couchpotatoe, headphones and sickbeard downloaders...

3 nas servers
6 smb shares
5 linux (ununtu) boxes
1 tftp server
1 cisco 1861 router
2 ip phones
4 fxo pots

And a very annoyed wife...

I use on occasionally for work. If I'm at home and need to take care of something on the work network, I use a VPN to connect.

I don't use it much, though.

Compared to some, I would say it is pretty secure. There are restrictions to who can connect to the server, two types of authentication, ecryption, etc. While nothing is 100% secure, I am pretty comfortable with the security of our VPN.
