There are states that give it off??
We get Memorial Day; Veterans Day teachers are "highly encouraged" to teach about veterans and their military sacrifice. We do programs, band plays, JROTC marches, VFW/Legion comes in an is honored, speeches, etc. that students are required to attend.

They do here in TX but we keep our kids home and honor all Vets on that day
