Wait till you take Small Pox, and Anthrax.

CV19 is the least of your worries.

MAJ Ron Peery - I personally know two former Marine Corps snipers, one in Natrona, Pennsylvania (near Pittsburgh) and one where I live now (in Ontonagon on Lake Superior, western UP of Michigan) who served in Afghanistan, and both became sterile from the anthrax vaccine. One had fathered kids before, and could not have any afterward, which bothered him and his wife intensely (a very pretty and sweet gal, btw, and a natural blonde.) He told me he was threatened with a court-martial if he did not take the anthrax vaccine, and had to sign a paper saying he understood he could get "temporarily" sterile, but 15 years later, it was NOT temporary.

Sgt John de Nugent - I never heard about that before. But I'm a bit past wanting to start a new family. When were your friends over there?

Can't speak to anthrax, but I received smallpox twice, first as a little kid (kindergarten in 72) and again in basic training reception in 85. Other than a pustule, zero uncomfortable side effects.

Does it really matter? Considering all the other vaccinations you will receive when coming in, does it really matter?

FLW, MO 1993. I remember those lines!! The 1.2 million units of deep IM Bicillin was like a superball in your glutes! The air guns to the deltoids weren't that bad.... as long as you stood still!

What is the penalty for refusing to take a rushed experimental vaccine for an illness with a 99% survival rate?

Back in the 90s Anthrax vaccinations were done off label. Soldiers that refused were subject to UCMJ Action. Some were chaptered out of service as a result of refusing. So.. look to history and you will find your answer.

I remember there being reports of Soldiers forcibly given the injections for Anthrax. I believe there were even Army Times Articles about this issue.

Back in the mid 80s when we had service members miss the annual flu shot the first time they were supposed to get it I typed up counseling papers for the 1SG to give them. If they missed their second appointment then I typed up Article 15 paperwork.

Does any one know if the Covid-19 vaccine is mandatory in the military or if it is going to be?

If you're in a location that has a risk for a disease and there's a vaccine for it, you'll receive it. From Japanese encephalitis, to H1N1, to Anthrax, Rabies, and Yellow Fever - you'll be vaccinated against whatever threat is in your area.

I certainly didn't want the anthrax, the yellow fever, the small pox, not the typhoid, yet here we are.

Personally I think it should be optional. It is untested and I am not willing to be a guinea pig. After it has been out a few years we will see what the outcome it. The way I see it is, if I die from COVID it was my time to go.

Corporal, you'll take the shot and like it (or at least pretend to) or face UCMJ action. Suck it up or go home. It has been tested by the different drug manufacturers and approved by the FDA, so you should have no worries unless you might go into anaphylactic shock. And with medics & doctors there to administer it, you'd be ok. Therefore, "optional" isn't an option for you or for any other uniformed person. A possible consequence of not getting the shot is becoming a carrier of COVID and thus infecting others who haven't had the shot, such as when you deploy to a 2nd- or 3rd-world location. Do you want to be the one responsible for infecting and perhaps killing others while not in a combat situation?

SFC Peter Krarup - I have been out of the military for over forty years so I don't have to worry about UCMJ. I haven't left the USA since my discharge and have no intention of leaving. There has been plenty of drugs which were "safe" but a couple years later had major side effects and all those drugs were also approved by FDA. A drug cannot be deemed totally safe with as little test time as this vaccine has been out. SFC, You want it? Go for it. Not me. You can be the guinea pig.

CPL, thank you for your service, and I've been out for five years. I do plan on traveling both inside & outside this country after I get vaccinated. Regarding safety, life involves risk. I ride motorcycles both on & off road and wear protective gear and it's still a risky game. Life is like that. I'm more likely than others to suffer injury but I accept that risk every time I get on the bike. I could stay home & wrap myself in bubble-wrap, but that's not me. Stay safe & well.

SFC Peter Krarup - And than you for your service SFC. Each of us has our own opinion and I accept the risk of not getting the vaccination at this time.

On another note, I also respect that you are safety minded enough to wear protective gear. It floored me a couple summers ago when I went to South Carolina and saw motorcycle rides riding without helmets. I thought, what a bunch of idiots. Who in their right mind does that?! They accept the risk but will cry the blues if something happens that could have been prevented by a helmet. Having had brothers who were into motorcycles at one time I have always been very cautious when they are on the road because like you said, an accident will most likely do a lot more damage to the biker than me in a car. Ride safe my friend and watch out for those who don't watch out for you.

Tin Foil hat theories say we already have been given the shot.

Last year there was a very strange push that all us USAR soldiers get flu shots on time. My point being in my 10 years yea we always got shots, but never before were Full COL's pushing down counseling statements making sure everyone in their command got them all the way to the E1's.

CPT (Join to see) Now that is interesting. Thank you for filling in some of the intelligence gap. That fits right in with what is being released now about last years flu season and that COVID-19 has been around a bit longer than was previously suspected.

In march I read an article detailing the novel corona virus wreaking havoc in Wuhan. It was written by the WHO and dated August 2019.
They seemed pretty worried at the time.
That report has disappeared, have never been able to find it again.

The Pfizer and Moderna COVID vaccine will be voluntary, since it is being used under an Emergency Use Agreement (EUA). Unless POTUS signs a waiver no one can be directed to take the vaccine, only encouraged. The current priorities for Militray are front line Healthcare Workers (ICU/ER), critical support staff, and Emergency Services (Police and Fire Dept.). The main force can expect to see the vaccine as early as Feb-Mar 2021. The efficacy of both vaccines is very high (90-94%) when compared to the Flu Vaccine (50%). They used new but ok’d science, the mRNA which is not COVID but tricks the body into thinking it has COVId so it can build immunity. You won’t get sick but will feel some minor symptoms for three days following the shot. I hope this helps.

I hope employers don’t make it mandatory! I can see the court battles and law suits now. Employers are not medical professional and according to HIPPA. Me as an individual have rights to the privacy of my medical information. When I was growing up, it wasn’t mandatory to get vaccinated for small pox, T. B. Anthrax or even V.D. H1N1. This particular virus is based more on political affiliation and fear factors. I remember all the news reports on the ( Swine Flu ) don’t eat the chicken ! Then ( Mad Cow ) disease. Watching news footage of cows supposedly going nuts from eating corn feed mixed with birds dung, Give me a break! Besides all that if the employers make this a mandatory issue for employment and just one employee that took the vaccination shot and still spread the virus. And it can be proven, that employer will be litigated into the poor house. And don’t sign any waivers absolving the employer from litigation . So far from never contracted COVID-19 , I’m not a carrier or any of the aforementioned way to spread this anti- Trump virus. I never had the disease , so I don’t need the shot.
