Do you have any tricks or tips to get your profile to the top of the stack? I have Google searched and used a few recommendations I have found online.

No, but have friends who do. As a fed manager, I remind people to work their resume based on the announcement, using the key words supplied by the hiring officials--usually verbs and adverbs (Directs, Decides/determines, Selects, processes, etc). Often, a software program may conduct the initial screening and that is part of what it searches for....and Follow the directions! Apply in more than one category if you can. You will be surprised at how many who do not.

The federal hiring practices are a joke. Even if you copy-paste the keywords, you have to be in the top three candidates to even get interviewed, and then, if you get to the interview, you have to hope that a friend of a friend of someone wasn't recommended because they will get the job. If you wanna tell me I'm wrong, then I'll introduce you to the husbands and wives, sisters, cousins, other extended relations and college buddies I work with and have worked with through the years. If you want a government job, make friends. The job announcements are there to comply with law...that's all.

OA, MSA, ICT, supply or administrative. I was a corpsman so really what ever. I am willing to work just about anything. I do not have any civilian certs but I do have a BS. I am only looking at Mountain Home VA TN but I could commute to some of the clinics around the area. Thanks for the help.
