I'm in one in Orlando. There are 2 companies in Orlando but we have companies in Jacksonville, Tampa, and the Ft. Lauderdale area. I can get you POCs for Orlando and Jacksonville if you'd like

I apologize for the delay!! We have bad connectivity over here. Yes, a POC for Orlando and Jacksonville would be very helpful. Appreciate your assistance!

CSM Payne,

I currently live in Florida but am willing to travel anywhere on the east coast or worst case anywhere in the U.S to get into a DS unit.

Thank you!

I'm on the road coming home from the Army Ten Miler. Give me a couple of days and I'll get back to you.

I am in a DS BN out of New Hampshire and Massachusetts. And you could always go to your retention NCO and ask about units closer to you.

Does anyone have a good POC for a Drill Sergeant Army Reserve unit on the east coast?

I don't know who the CMD team is now but I believe that the 4/485th is based out of harmony church area of Ft. Benning. You can try contacting the reserve center career counselor there.

Reservists are stereo typically and in my experience less than motivated (to put it politely), drill instructors practically vibrate when they are seated because sharks can't stay still

CPL,

It all depends on unit. I've seen the laziness you speak of on both the active and reserve side.

CPL,

It takes a whole lot of lazy to have 2 jobs and balance the the responsibilities of both a full time civilian career and maintain all the expectations of the Army. Granted, I agree and have seen that laziness is on both sides- but it is based on the character of the individual, not whether they are Reservist or Active Duty.

Hard no, I've never seen a reserve unit that I even felt comfortable around in training, much less combat. 4th LAR was particularly bad in 2009 when we were switching out. Their training was so bad/ rushed they sent over a Corpsman who didn't even know how to use his ACOG. He ended getting blown up along with 3 Marines when one of the kids we told him a THOUSAND times not to get close to him blew them up.
