What do you do with the dog when you go hunting or the range? Does a service dog cause any of your VA disability rating?

I would advise you to leave the dog at home when hunting and especially at the range. Their ears are very sensitive. It could cause the dog to develop anxiety which would defeat the purpose of having a service dog. Some places you go, you'll hafta leave him at home. I don't take mine to the range and I hafta focus on why I'm there in order to not have added anxiety when around others. I usually only do half an hour on the inside range. But I do all day at the outdoor ones. If you have anxiety meds take the bottle with you and stay aware of yourself and how you're reacting to people. You can do it!

I've got a few friends who have PTSD service dogs. I don't know if they take theirs hunting/to the range, but all of their daily activities they take the dogs with them so that they get used to them. I'm sure something similar could be done if you choose to get a service dog.

I also see that you posted this question 8 months ago. Have you since gotten a dog?
