Does anyone have any details on whether I will have any luck as a 42A going active and possibly keeping my MOS?

I am a 42A (E-4, good standing, never been in trouble) currently on a postal mission overseas. When I first got to my unit I was dissapointed in what we do during drill weekends. I volunteered for my first deployment hoping to do a little more “Army” stuff. Unfortunately, I’m overseas and still doing absolutely nothing (literally). So I spend my time creating PowerPoints in regulations or convincing my NCOIC to give me task. I am completely interested in my MOS as a 42A. I have always regretted not going Active. Now I’m done with my degree and would like to try that process. Does anyone have any details on whether I have any luck as a 42A going active and possibly keeping my MOS (I understand it’s not guaranteed and based off the needs of the Army). I’m aware of the conditional release form from a recruiter as well as the timeframe varying and signatures not guaranteed but I think it’s worth a try. I would like to start the process while overseas if possible. If you have any details I would love to hear them! Thank you!
Also I have read the buisness rules but if someone can explain to me exactly what it means for the 42A portion. I believe it’s saying I would need to have airborne... but I might be wrong. Your assistance is greatly appreciated!

You already said it, go see a recruiter. Find out the memo needs to say for the release and get it signed. You sound like an excellent Soldier. You might want to consider OCS. Don't select MP.

Just saw your posting. Prior service accecion into to active duty is based on a memorandum that Army Recruiting Command publishes every Diaz month: USAREC Business Rules. It states under what conditions a prior service member can be recruited back into active duty.

I know a female in my Reserve unit who was able to reclass to 42A in Active Duty, I believe she had to go to Airborne school. It's funny, I am in the same boat as you. Also overseas, and also disappointed with my decision to go Reserve. I have been attempting a conditional release for over 2 years. Without sounding disrespectful towards my unit, I will say everything in the Reserve has disappointed me. If you need anything or have any questions, you can inbox me!

I feel you... I’m disappointed in almost everything so far. I’m just eager to know more and it doesn’t happen in Reserves. Hopefully it pulls through. If not I will def be contacting you for some assistance.
