Does anyone have any tips or experience in getting a job with a major contractor such as DynCorp, ManTech, or Fluor?

I have submitted my resume and application for positions with all three. I am seeking out a logistics type contract job. Does anyone have any prior experience or tips on how I should follow up after applying?

I have some experience having the later two under contract at various times. They have very different corporate cultures. They are all BIG Business under the Federal definitions, hence can't chase as primes stuff other than the larger unrestricted contracts. They do show up as subs under restricted contracts. So if you're looking at working on affiliated military stuff you're familiar with, find out who their primes are as well. They need some of the same skill set too.

SGT Green-I work with Flour pretty regularly. Companies of that size are, as CAPT Ball points out, almost "governmental" in their practices and policy. Getting hired with these firms is largely based on a pseudo-mathematical "equation" which scores applicants, removes any "favoritism" and is supposed to protect the company's "Equal Opportunity" image as much as anything else-Translation? It's less about what/who you know and more about checking the right boxes. However, there are a plethora of companies supporting these larger entities from smaller, more private companies. Oil and Gas is huge right now. These companies are typically less formal, more objective, and more approachable. You won't see the "bulletproof" infrastructure of say AECOM, or GE, but you will see real appreciation for your potential and the potential to rise.
