I have a interview with my kennel master here on FT. Campbell on Wednesday. I'm currently a 68W, looking to convert over to 31k. Any tips or information on what the interview is like?

Yes, just this:
There is no requirement for an interview from the kennel Master.

MOS 31K requires a background check from the Provost Marshall, E7 or higher.

Have a back up plan, there are no class seats for 31K and there almost never are. When I mean almost never, I mean I've gotten one class seat for a Soldier in 8 years. Have a backup plan

Why would you have an interview with your kennelmaster? It is not required for you to be even considered for 31k. Literally what you need is a 92 on Skill Tech on Asvab, pass a background check to hold a Secret clearance and be a US citizen.

Additionally, and not to question the information provided, but I don't understand how there are no class seats available for 8 years. I had seven 31k in my basic alone and was offered a slot when initially passing my ASVAB. More then likely just a right time right place situation, but I figured it wasn't a terribly rare MOS....

Fairly simple. When a recruiter or retention NCO looks and there are no slots/seats open. Does it mean none were open the entire 8 years? No. It just means that when he went to try to seat someone in that time frame, there were hardly any school slots, hence the 1 in 8 years.

Have to remember, this is not like 11B or some other super common MOS where you can fill 2-3 classes in a months time. The Army still has a lot of former 31B's that transitioned to 31K and the the normal 31K's since 2012 so if those SM's are not retiring, getting out, re classing then the slots are just not there to be filled.
