Hello all, I recently started my application process with the Secret Service (Uniformed Division) and I just passed the POST exam. Just wondering how long from the start of the process to an employment offer takes?

After the recent exploits the media is portraying, the application might include downing a bottle of tequila and erasing video tapes in less than an hour.....jk. SSG Robert Burns, what say ye?

It can take a few months. After they offer you a position, it can take 1-3 months to for you to actually start due to the background investigation. My whole process took 5 months.

Yea it's frustrating. Our scores have taken 2 weeks to get back instead of 5 days like we were told. Now I have been patiently waiting to take the APAT exam. I just want the process to move quickly as possible, I have applied to Metro Police in D.C. and it's moving along at a decent pace. My dream job is definitely the Secret Service but the way it's looking I'll end up at Metro PD first.

A friend of mine went through the process and told me he was polygraphed.
